Sep 02, 2023Power interruption hits 3 areas in Negros Occidental
BACOLOD CITY – An unscheduled power interruption affected the municipality of E.B. Magalona and Victorias City and portion of Manapla town in Negros Occidental on Tuesday, August 29.
The power outage was first reported around 10:53 p.m. on Monday, August 28, due to busted lightning arrester at 15MVA Victorias substation, according to an advisory from the Northern Negros Electric Cooperative (Noneco).
It was restored at 2:01 a.m. the following day.
However, another power interruption occurred on Tuesday morning due to the tripping of the power transformer.
Heavy rains and strong winds caused by the southwest monsoon or “habagat” and typhoon “Goring” are being experienced by residents of the province since Sunday, August 28.
The power firm said that preventive measures were conducted before re-energization. A series of electrical tests were conducted on Tuesday night at the 15MVA Victorias power transformer.
The estimated time of full restoration will be at 1 a.m. on Wednesday, August 30, according to Noneco’s power advisory posted on their Facebook page.
The power firm apologized for the inconvenience caused by the power interruption.
